A few years ago, I noticed that my feet were getting more painful. So I started to think about it. In a way, this was a normal experience for me. I was in a relationship for 10 years and my doctor prescribed me Lamisil (terbinafine) once a day. I had no problems with my feet, so my feet were fine. When I returned to the office, my feet were not getting any worse. It was almost 4 years ago that I was diagnosed with chronic back pain. I was told that if I didn’t stop using Lamisil for 2 weeks, I would have to stop using Lamisil again. This is not normal. I am now using Lamisil daily and I still get painful feet for a long time after I stop using it. I am not aware of any side effects of this medication. Does anyone know about this or if it would be a good idea to stop using it?

Thank you for your time and care!

Lamisil (terbinafine) is a prescription medicine. In a study conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics to determine whether terbinafine is safe for use in children, the team found terbinafine was not associated with a significantly lower risk of major adverse effects (MAE) compared to placebo (seeDrug Interactions).

Lamisil is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including the enlargement of the prostate gland. It is also indicated for the treatment of symptoms of urinary tract infection (UTI), including acute interstitial nephritis and acute cystitis.

Lamisil is available in tablet form. The tablet should be taken by mouth. It is important to take Lamisil at the same time each day to avoid missing the tablet. Lamisil can be taken with or without food. It is not known if terbinafine is safe or effective in pregnant women. In the study, mothers taking Lamisil were significantly less likely to have UTI or acute cystitis compared to mothers taking other forms of terbinafine. In addition, the study found no significant difference in the incidence of pregnancy for mothers taking terbinafine or a similar formulation of terbinafine when compared to women who were not given terbinafine.
